The retail problem
Offers move faster than you can watch.
Retail competition is a calendar of offers. A rival drops a weekend doorbuster, flips "20% off" to "30% off," or launches a back-to-school creative, and the first you hear of it is when a shopper asks why the store down the street is cheaper. Checking their site, their Instagram, their TikTok, and their paid feeds by hand isn't a plan. It's a daily chore that still leaves you a step behind.
And it's not one channel. Competitors run in-store event creative, omnichannel "shop online, pick up in store" campaigns, and pure-paid discount ads at the same time. Promotions are time-boxed: a competitor's weekend offer is irrelevant by Monday, but only if you saw it Friday. Miss the window and you either match it too late to matter or eat the margin hit of a panic discount. Every missed promo is a basket you didn't win.
